That's it. That's the policy. But since lawyers like words, here are more of them:
StatusDot performs TCP connection checks to public DNS servers (1.1.1.1 and 8.8.8.8) to determine if your internet connection is working. These are raw TCP handshakes — no data is sent or received beyond the connection itself.
Nothing. No analytics. No telemetry. No crash reports. No usage data. No cookies. No accounts. No servers. Your preferences (icon style, check interval, notification toggle) are stored locally on your Mac using UserDefaults. They never leave your device.
None. StatusDot has zero dependencies, zero SDKs, zero frameworks beyond what Apple provides in macOS.
StatusDot is distributed through the Mac App Store. Apple may collect data related to your purchase, crash logs, and App Store usage under their own privacy policy. We have no access to any of that. For details, see Apple's Privacy Policy. This section exists because Apple requires us to tell you this.
We don't knowingly collect data from anyone, including children. Since we collect nothing from nobody, there's nothing age-specific to worry about. Apple requires us to say this.
StatusDot is made by Vitor Monteiro, an independent developer based in the UK. If GDPR or UK GDPR applies to you: there's no data controller because there's no data. But if you need a name for a form, it's this one.
If this policy ever changes, the updated version will be posted here with a new date. Given that we collect nothing, changes are unlikely unless we figure out how to collect even less.
If you have questions about this privacy policy (we're not sure what you'd ask, but sure), email us at support@statusdot.app.
